Not only can the yogic breathing practices, or pranayama, prepare the mind and body for meditation, but they can also assist the lymphatic system with its work to move fluids within the bloodstream, supporting the immune system.  Pranayama also helps certain body organs with toxin removal. As a result, it is especially beneficial for  sedentary people, who don't receive the benefit of the muscular contractions that promote venous return to the heart that will squeeze toxins from the organs.
