We Suffer From Lack of Meaning in Our LivesJayanathi 2010

We see suffering around us everyday - or at least we should be seeing it.  Some do their best to shut their eyes against the pains of the world.  Poverty, crime, war, hunger, and natural disasters are incredible challenges.  Most in our country do not face these trials.  Our suffering is something subtler.  We suffer from lack of meaning in our lives.  If we have a roof over our heads, food to eat, decent health, friends, and security, we try to live the "good life."   When we do, possessions and position rule our lives.  When these fail us - and they always do sooner or later- we face a crisis:  a life with no meaning.  Nothing can be more empty and frightening.  Meaning comes not by what we do, but who we are.  We are all sons and daughters of God.  Our meaning lies in claiming our Divine heritage.  Reclaim it by leading a dedicated life, by following the Golden Rule, and by spending a little time everyday for you health and peace.

OM Shanti, Shanti, Shanti
