The 60th Jayanthi Celebration of
Sri Guruji Reverend Jaganath Carrera
You are listening to an excerpt from Sri Guruji's Jayanthi message.
Sri Guruji offering His Jayanthi Message
Ah Jayanthi, what a beautiful way to celebrate the birth of our beloved Guruji, Sri Reverend Jaganath Carrera Maharaj. The day was much more than a 60th birthday party. It started out with dozens of disciples working together to collect flower petals, set up the puja table, the food, and all of the gorgeous vases of flowers. The day was full of joy and love, complete with a pada puja, loving tributes, and a delicious meal.
In attendance were various honored guests, including studio owners, some old friends of Sri Guruji, His Beloved wife, Reverend Janaki as well as many initiates of Sri Guruji.
The puja consisted of much chanting, bell ringing, candle waving and honoring the Guru. At one point there was so much honoring, that Guruji was buried under what seemed like hundreds of flower garlands.
Friends and initiates offered testimonies to how much Guruji and the Yoga teachings meant to them. A traditional Indian Odissi dancer, Dhanya Dasi Salem graced us with a sacred dance, which is offered at the Temple of Lord Jaganath in India. Bringing in some Yogic laughter was Karuna and her puppet Swami Cat. The dedications, readings and entertainment were obviously from the heart.
As the day drew to a close, many of us could not stop talking about the delicious food, especially the vegan birthday cake Bhavani Ma baked especially for Guruji. The kitchen staff handled all of their hard work so professionally, that it felt like a catered affair.
It was a privilege to be involved in such an auspicious event. Everyone seemed to be well fed and filled to the brim with love and joy.
May we all be together again next year for Guruji’s 61st Jayanthi to celebrate peace, joy, love and good health.
OM Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.
